Job Description

The successful candidate shall support the task lead in the analysis of the SLS vehicle design and supporting infrastructure regarding the adequacy of its implementation of operations requirements with respect to the following:

  1. Flight Operations Handbook (FOH): Includes Vehicle system command and control analysis, vehicle system overviews and functional descriptions, and the development of Operations Sequence Diagrams relative to launch countdown and ascent.

  2. Launch Commit Criteria and Flight Rules for the Integrated Vehicle.

  3. Analysis of Sub System Design Description Documents and input to the Supportability and Operations Assessment Report.

  4. Participation as the Operations Engineering Team member of the Vehicle Systems Management (VMS) development team.

  5. Analysis of the SLS Software and Avionics architecture and functionality and incorporation of descriptive material into the FOH.

  6. Representation of Operations Engineering in required Software and Avionics system development working meetings.

  7. Representation of Operations Engineering in required Software Build planning process development activities.

  8. SLS Failure Mode assessment and operations response planning.

  9. Participate in design reviews as required

  10. The review of SLS documentation affecting mission operations

  11. Other duties as assigned

     

Candidate must be able to work in a NASA structured team environment and is required to attend weekly coordination meetings with the NASA customer, Teledyne Brown Engineering and other contractor personnel.


Job Requirements

Candidate must have at least a Bachelors degree in a recognized field of engineering or science, plus approximately ten (10) or more years of professional experience performing analysis, design and/or test assignments.

 

Experience with fault detection and isolation and/or risk analysis a plus but not required.


Skill Requirements

Candidate must be able to:

  • Candide should have a background in avionics requirements development, analysis and/or testing for aerospace and or military
  • Work in a NASA structured team environment
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Present and defend analysis and designs, with the support of the Task Lead, in customer lead meetings


Education Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
