Sets up and operates most general machine shop machines such as milling machines, lathes, surface grinders,
bench grinders, shapers, planers, horizontal and vertical boring mill, and jig boring machines. Performs machinery
set-ups with minimum assistance, except on the most complex work and/or where exceptionally close tolerances
Are required. Performs prototype work from detailed specifications. Exercises considerable care of
equipment, tools, parts, machines, and materials to prevent damage.
Interprets blueprints, drawings, and route sheets to ascertain nature of assigned work orders.
Computes accurate mathematical dimensions needed to manufacture parts of average complexity.
Uses precision measuring instruments.
Performs quality machining of materials such as copper, brass, tool steels, various stainless steels, magnesium,
nickel, plastics, epoxy fibers, and other materials as required.
